More on Books About Baseball

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Obviously you will only be reading this if you share my joy of reading about America’s Pasttime. Apologies otherwise, and please skip to another post.
This is great. I just about passed out when I discovered this site: The Baseball Bookshelf, the creation of Hank Brockett.
I offered up my own list of favorite baseball reads awhile [...]

Huge WOW props to Karen Reddick, owner of V-&-E Services and a long time member of IVAA. Karen was recently interviewed about the Virtual Assistance profession by NBC Today Show. Her interview is scheduled to air later this month!
This is a major accomplishment for a respected colleague. Keep an eye out here for that [...]

Beating Burnout, Fighting off Frazzle

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

Many International Virtual Assistant Association members will be off to the annual VA Summit in San Francisco in a couple of days and will find renewed vigor for their work in the stimulating company of colleagues. Unfortunately, not all of us VA’s can attend the Summit this year.
Meanwhile, there’s a great discussion unfolding over at [...]

On My Needles Today

Friday, April 20th, 2007

February, March and April are prime knitting months here. When the pollen count is high, I stay inside and knit whenever I’m not working. Recently OFF the needles is this little baby sweater, made from Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Grande (color=1310), my favorite yarn of late. Thick, soft, cozy, perfect.
I started two bluesy pieces recently. [...]

Finding a Personal Sanctuary

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

When the world gets confusing it is wise to go to a sacred and safe place. Yesterday felt like one of those days, so Chester and I headed out to the rookery on the edge of Willow Lake here in Prescott. Great blue herons and cormorants are nesting there now.
This place is lively and [...]

Client Spotlight Blogalogue: What Type of Client Are YOU??

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Periodically, interviews with spectacular Loose Ends clients are featured here. Some I’ve asked have declined, indicating they are modest or just too busy to be interviewed. The upshot is, I am fortunate in my clientele, and this area does not fully reflect my marvelous clientele.
In lieu of an interview today, I direct you to a [...]

Finding Your Monday Rhythm: Getting Things Done

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Wendy Piersall at eMoms At Home gives us a Moday Motivation blast every week.
For general sanity and calmness, I always look at Beth Dargis’ Weekly Simplicity Tips
. I actually take her list everyweek and place it on a stickynote on my monitor and pat myself of the back when I remember to use her [...]

Experimenting with WordPress Themes? Your Google Rank Might Tank!

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

This is what I did to my nice rankings… it seemed time to find a new theme that I could experiment with, but FIRST, I needed to upgrade to Ella (I was running v. 1.5).
The upgrade went just fine, as I followed the very explicit instructions found at WP. After that, I went a [...]

Selecting Cataloging Software for your Digital Archive

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I wrote a few months ago about the great wealth of “Digital Asset Management” to be found in Peter Krogh’s excellent book, The Dam Book.
Now that I have spent a few months using his process of preparing images for storage and retrieval, I was ready to take a second look at what cataloging software is [...]

How Many iPods Have YOU Gone Through?

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

I’m still on my first. I treat it like a cherished heirloom. It gets most of its workout in the car, when hooked up to iTrip. As a recording device with iTrip clipped in place, it’s proven its worth over and over as I conduct onsite interviews for clients’ press releases. A real trooper, my [...]
