Finding Your Monday Rhythm: Getting Things Done

lifeofvaicon.jpgWendy Piersall at eMoms At Home gives us a Moday Motivation blast every week.

For general sanity and calmness, I always look at Beth Dargis’ Weekly Simplicity Tips
. I actually take her list everyweek and place it on a stickynote on my monitor and pat myself of the back when I remember to use her tips.

But sometimes you need to get your groove in gear, focus your energies, and get a move on. So have a look at Wendy’s blog and post your Monday Motivation. I often use my Monday’s as my administrative chores and housekeeping day, so it can end up a little scattered as I wait for tasks to magically present themselves.

For today, I will:

  • 1. Select and upload 2 images to iStockphoto.com.
  • 2. Work on my languishing novel for about an hour.

(If it seems improbable that a legit biz would have time to do things like that on a Monday, let me say this: I made Monday my get-thing-done-around-the-office day a few years ago. While my clients are putting out their Monday fires, I reorganize my workspace. Secondly, I always have a little slow down right around April 15, if you know what I mean — so this is always a time when I get to enjoy some quiet times,a few extra walks with Chester and coffee breaks.)

My motivation? If I don’t get it done, I don’t get to knit tonight while watching a baseball game. Instead I will still be in the office, getting it done.
