Can you say “sidetracked?”

Virtual Assistant LifeI could blame it on the economy. Or I could explain how my child’s recent health scare derailed my focus. Or I could share my heartfelt excitement over working into the wee hours, creating homespun (handknit) holiday gifts.

Whatever the explanation, I acknowledge that I abandoned ship on my blog and social media participation for a month, and that all the reasons are related to living this life, in the best way I know how, in times like these.

Work is slow or non-existent for everyone, and troubles abound. Going into a cave to escape isn’t the answer, though.

I have discovered that by keeping my hands on those knitting needles (and off of the keyboard) and looking around to see what I have to share with others through my area Freecycle group, I can experience that oh-so-good feeling of fulfillment and wealth. Despite the slowdown in work and income on the home front.

Even more importantly, my family was the beneficiary of so many sincere well-wishes and prayers during my son’s health issue, that I felt I was floating in a cloud of goodwill, no matter what was actually happening around us.

Here’s to remembering to connect and stay connected, no matter what life hands you (or me!). We’ll get through this together.

  1. I must admit with the economy the way it is, and with winter here and all the snow and cold, I am ready to go into hibernation mode :-)

Fortunately, I’m an active member in a National Association of Women Business Owners chapter which gets me out of my home office at least a few times a month.

I’m so envious of you, Katie! Especially when I see you live in Arizona and could go see as many Brewers spring training games as you want. (Assuming that you wanted to watch the Brewers, that is.) My significant other and I will be in Phoenix in March to watch a couple of games. It’s going to be hard to wait that long!

Enjoy your beautiful weather. Happy Holidays!

  2. Melodee,

We are a house divided: I like the Cubbies, my husband is a Dbacks fan. Then, my youngest plays baseball at the University of AZ but the rest of us went to ASU. It’s pretty funny.

Maybe we can catch up with one another in March, during which I make the drive back and forth from here (Prescott) to Tucson often!

    Thank you for stopping by.

  3. ***choke*** Cubbies!?! Oh, you poor deluded girl!

Yes, I can see that we’ll have to meet up in March. Maybe you can come to a Brewers game and see what talent really is :-)
