Have YOU Read the 4-Hour Workweek?
You never know when your next networking opportunity may arise. Or where you’ll be when it does.
I was asked about my profession last week, while I was lying on a gurney, just before being sedated for a “medical procedure.”
Used to having to explain my industry, Virtual Assistance, I was surprised when the person who asked knew all about VAs, since he had apparently been reading the Tim Ferriss book. He, the medical person, not Tim Ferriss, then said he would like to get my business card.
Lacking foresight, I had forgotten to grab a handful of them to bring with me into the surgical setting and I had no pockets in that hospital gown. Opportunity lost!
My questions:
1. Am I the only one who hasn’t read The Four-Hour Workweek? And, if you read it, what did you think? Want to loan me your copy?
2. Should I follow up with this person from my medical experience? I am not sure of the protocol for a situation like that! Who knows what I said while under the effects of the amnesia drug used to sedate me?!

I haven’t read it, but I heard or read that he suggests outsourcing to offshore virtual assistants. The upside is that he caused our industry to receive attention and recognition.
In regards to the networking opportunity, I would follow it up.

Rita,
You must be right about the offshore recommendations, since the person I met was telling me all about the great pricing offered by VAs in India, and other parts of the world.
I think I will follow up and then will let you know how that pans out.
Laura Jo and Amber,
Thanks for the input on the book. (Amber, I sent you an email with my street address in it and appreciate the offer!)
