Page Rank DOES Migrate after awhile!
About six weeks ago I converted an existing site to a WordPress, blog-style site.
I’ve written about the process elsewhere (Converting from Static Site to WordPress Blog? , and also check out my guest post about the conversion published at Merrick Management), and all that was left to have happen is for the original site’s PageRank to migrate to the new blog version of the site.
Because the page rank never did show up in the first few days and weeks after applying redirects to the original site files, I assumed that Google sees a difference between the original index.html file and the current blog home page, which is a php document, and that the new site would not inherit the original site’s page rank. A little bummed was I, since the research I did before executing the migration reassured me that it would.
Finally today I discovered my modest PR3 showing up after all.
If you think you’ve permanently sacrificed your page rank after your site makeover is complete, my advice is to quit checking it. It will follow your site to its new home eventually.
