WordPress Users Get Naked!
Before you think Loosely Speaking has lost it completely, remember: I build websites for a living. That means code. Sometimes you have to strip out the code.
In fact, on April 9, 2008, for the third year in a row, WordPress users everywhere are invited to “Go Naked” on CSS Naked Day. Those participating will remove all of our stylesheets, which are the instructions we embed in our websites and blogs to make them look, uh, stylish.
The CSS Naked site is encouraging all WordPress users to: “Don’t think; just strip!”
The point is not prurience; rather we are banding together in a humorously peaceful demonstration.
As Lorelle on WordPress explains:
“This is the third year of the annual CSS Naked Day which honors web design and designers around the world who help make our websites and blogs look ‘pretty’ to the eye while still being totally functional under the hood.
Dustin Diaz wanted to give the web world an opportunity to remind everyone of the benefits of CSS web page design. By removing the stylesheet for the day, the world would see naked web pages, giving a little more appreciation for the skills of web page designers.”
I have to tell youâ€â€?this is a lot easier than having a colonoscopy or a mammogram. Plus you don’t have to worry about how YOU look in the mirror. You can even keep your hat on.
All giggles aside, just be a WordPress nudist for one day, Wednesday April 9.

Remember, this is not just for WordPress users, but I’m really proud of all the WordPress users who do embrace this, as it celebrates WordPress Theme designers as well as website designers everywhere.

Dear Lorelle,
Thank you for pointing that out. Maybe the WP subset can make a splash just because of the ease with which we can participate using the plugin, whereas for the rest of us to strip out the code on other sites we work on could be too huge an undertaking.
