Prescott roundupA look at some good posts related to my favorite blogging platform, WordPress.

Have you considered combining blogging forces with colleague or other simpatico soul? Here’s a good piece on how-to merge your existing WP blog with another one, along with arguments for merging, by Hendrik Kleinwachter and Mark Hagethorn, who jointly publish Duoblogger.com.

If version 2.7 of WordPress is your first foray into WP, you might do yourself a favor and select a theme which is tried-and-true for this latest version. Believe me, if you use an old, heavily modified theme, you may encounter all kinds of back end challenges which will not make your first WP project a happy one. Mashable has a piece just for you by Shaun Aune: 10 of the Best WordPress 2.7 Compatible Themes. (There are a lot of tweets about this one right now.)

For those who use WordPress.com’s free hosting service, Lorelle Van Fossen shares a help area just for you, the WordPress.com Support site.

I gave up on my stats program after updating and all I currently have running is Google Analytics. I would love to install something that WORKS on 2.7. Ideas?

Speaking of this, read these related posts from the Loosely Speaking archives:

  1. Thanks for mentioning me in your post :-) .

Google Analytics should work. Make sure you are pasting it in the correct wordpress template. I placed it in the index template which caused some problems. Placing it in the footer worked perfectly tough.

  2. Hendrik, you are welcome. Google Analytics works for me, but I like to run a second set of stats for comparison. Like lots of other people I have read of, I find there is a huge disparity in the figures reported by Google v.s. some others.
