Love and Fear and the Road to Successful Blogging
I love blogging. Both writing my own posts and reading those of others. In fact, the other day when I heard a radio news report about “Imams being detained in airport,” I thought what I had heard was “Emoms detained in airport.” My thoughts went instantly to a blog I read often, Emoms at Home, and I was just flummoxed as to why some of my favorite bloggers should have been detained for, what… blogging publicly??
Are you just starting your first blog? Or feeling frustrated and confused over how to get someone, anyone, to read your scintillating posts? OR, feeling like you have read and done everything necessary to create a successful blog, but find your interest and dedication waning?

Now, if you can’t get off square one, maybe you’re experiencing some form of blog paralysis. To conquer the fear that may be underlying your inertia, read Copyblogger’s “The Nasty Four-Letter Word That Keeps You From Writing.”
Are you stalled, wondering if what you have to say is even worthy? Maybe you just need a dose of Liz. Strauss, that is, at Successful Blog. Liz encourages conversation and buoys up sagging spirits with her gentle prose, like this post about how to move forward by being “Positively Me.”

That’s it. You just blog what’s real . . . like you did today. Brilliant!!

ROFL - that’s incredibly funny! Thanks for sharing!!
And the only thing I can think we have done lately to warrant being detained is complaining loudly about Google. But alas, even that doesn’t seem to keep me out of the airports.

Liz, thank you!
Wendy, that’s not my first hearing gaffe. Around the time of the pipebombs in mailboxes incident, I was fully aware of the news. So, how to explain that during next coverage of that story I somehow heard “pythons in mailboxes?!”
I stormed into my husband’s office and exhorted him: “What is wrong with this world?! Bombs and now pythons in innocent people’s mailboxes?” He just gave me a hug and told me I might have misheard that one…
Anyway, behave when you are in public.

Just wanted to say that I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now. I really love it; I think it is the best VA one out there. And, it keeps me inspired as I get my own VA business off the ground.
I am losing steam with my blogging, so these inspirations help. Thanks!

Sophie, I appreciate your kind words, particularly in view of the fact that I have experienced blog derailment over the past couple of weeks!
Perhaps it’s due to the “Christmas at 90 miles an Hour” phenomenon that you reference on your own terrific blog?
I guess it’s important to keep all in perspective. If I have work to finish and projects/dinners to cook for my family as we all gather for this special time of year, then Loosely Speaking will take a back seat for a while. All is not lost if it does.
I am sure happy to meet you!
