Relocating Your Virtual Assistance Business

warehouse.jpgFor the baby house finches I’ve been spying on outside my kitchen window, the time came to move on. Many of us humans share that desire to relocate.

If you’ve been considering a move, or need to do so to be closer to family, or to please a spouse who has retired before you, it should be a simple matter to continue your Virtual Assistance practice no matter where you live. In fact, you can likely take most of your clientele with you without skipping a beat.

If your business depends heavily on local clients, perhaps because of your niche or a personal preference for face time with clients, relocation is going to impact your income since you will lose a lot of business and have to focus initially on drumming up new leads immediately after your move.

Amber Drake of Essential Admin took a novel approach to selecting her new home town by living and working in an RV for a year. Amber, her husband, and two small children traveled widely in order to find the place that worked best for her family.

While Amber used the RV life as a means of discovering her new permanent digs, Paula Williams, owner of MoneyPenny Assistance, relocates every couple of days, as she has been a full time RVer since 2000.

I caught up with Paula in, of all places, Athens, Greece. NOT on vacation, but managing her normal workload while living life on her own terms.

In a few days, I’ll feature interviews with both Amber and Paula, in which they will share their suggestions on how to make your business move a successful one.

  1. Paula definitely gets around, working just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia a month or so ago in Canada. I had the priviledge of interviewing her and she is a hoot plus a sound minded business woman who values her travelling business. You can listen to our interview here at my Virtual Assistant Talk Show if you like:
