Liz Strauss, the original SOB is hosting her blog’s 3rd birthday party tomorrow, October 28, 2008.

A year ago I joined the SOB ranks when Liz conferred the title on Loosely Speaking, allowing me to proudly display her badge here.

If you have been paying attention, you may have read an article Paul Boutin in Wired last week, purporting that blogging is dead. Boutin’s premise is that Twitter, Flickr, et al have eclipsed the original interactive communication intent of blogging, rendering those of us who believe in the blog as a vehicle of conversation obsolete. Frozen in time somewhere around 2004.

Ahem. To be a Successful and Outstanding Blogger Liz Strauss exhorts you to:

“find a way to start a dialogue about how blogging helps business, or carry the dialogue here back to your own blog. Offer a great feature, post, idea, or an article that will shed new light for the blogosphere. Add an outstanding idea, insight, or spark to the conversation going on at this blog or start one on your own and share what happened here. Contribute something that demonstrates that you think like a Successful and Outstanding Blogger. Find a unique way to ‘add value’ to the conversation going on in the blogosphere to make it grow stronger.”

Read my original post about the pivotal role Liz has played in nurturing and inspiring online communication and decide if YOU believe blogs are dead.

Meanwhile, I’ll be over at the SOB party tomorrow. You don’t even have to take a time machine to get there. See you there?
